I asked jchan before, but he wasn't so keen about it due to the politic side of things because of colorways etc. To tip MOQ on Colevrak/Internation we need to go MD I think. I currently don't know of a GMK set to come to MD after Laser.

Will the legends be GMK TU2 cyan? (I hope TU2 is the color code I'm looking for...) Also, I'm concerned about using SP colors, as it will be impossible to get exact matches on things like spacebars, arrow clusters, and other accent keys from GMK.
They matched GMK SoWaRe very good from SP color chips. I'll be receiving the color samples for GMK Oblivion in a few weeks so I'll see for myself how close they are at replicating colors. So the current intention is to match the color chips from SP unless it is proven unreliable. But as stated in the first post, I want to have color matching done before the GB launches.

+1 for this. Think of how great those would pair with OG triumph adler alphas. Imagine: http://imgur.com/r/all/lLIQT (well maybe the legends would have to be GMK's N5 blue color to really be a close match)
This looks great, but it's missing at least an essential 1u backspace. Also, numerous custom boards have split spacebar support with blank 1.25u caps included. I really don't get why these are never seen in any sets. I feel like those should be in every spacebar kit by standard these days.

Kudos for the Ergoplanck kit with alphas, a couple of R3 blanks are needed to cover the Planck/Preonic.

Yup, by my count Planck/Preonic are covered with alpha colored 1u's at the top like the Ergodox is here and in the original design.

Nautilus' Norde is at 75 units as of the July 18th update. That's with the Scandinavians' complaints and some dropping out due to the missing § ½ key. As much as it may not seem like a satisfactory solution either, moving the UK keys into base and paring the Norde kit to the essentials appears to be the way forward, at least until the European interest in custom keysets grows a bit larger.
@RedSuns' Red Samurai is adopting the Nautilus pattern for UK/Norde, but with the § ½ key added, which should strengthen sales of the Norde kit further. @T0mb3ry's Eclipse is similar, but the Norde is a fuller selection. Another variation I would suggest: put the ^ ° and § ½ in the base kit with UK, then choose whether to run the Norde kit as the lean, low cost pack like Nautilus, or go with the complete set.

Yeah but yuri sold 50% less base kits and had Cyrillics. I do agree bundling more keys into the base makes lots of sense especially at massdrop moq, but I'm not sure there is anything that would indicate nautilus' int kit is selling any better than yuri, it just seems like the set is selling better overall.

There is more than enough interest in Europe for custom keysets, the problem is that we have to pay 50% more to fit a keyboard properly compared to Ansi users.

Is this in response to my comment about not using MD? I know that won't happen - as much as I would prefer not to buy from MD.
I'd like to focus on Yuri vs Nautilus, where one had the UK keys in the base set and the other was in an international kit. OP seems to think removing UK keys from the international will hurt international sales, but I doubt it. Unfortunately, we don't have many examples to look at - but from what we do have the UK kit not being in the international kit didn't hurt international sales (as a percentage of base kits sold). It just depends what adding the UK kit to the base set will do to the base price, but considering Nautilus started on $130 with the UK keys, I don't think it's much of a problem.

The MD polls often don't mean much by themselves. MD will just reference them later if they decide to run the buy.

I haven't even spoken to Yanbo about this. It's quite possible that we could run it through a different vendor as well. MD has GMK Laser and GMK Deep Space on schedule I believe, 1 more I heard of but not sure if that's public info. Also GMK Red Sun has quite a lot of votes for it and came before this. If they run 1 set every 3 months, we'd be looking at quite a wait still. Other vendors could possibly mean dropping child kits though. Or doing the small size International only. Colevrak would probably be off the table alltogether if it's not run on MD.

Yes, actually there was also an IC for a re-run of SP Calm Depths (in addition to the Maxkeys SA):

Including spacekeys in base kit because:
#1 I think they are popular enough to be considered important, as shown by GMK Space Cadet GB where they were a standalone kit and sold about a fifth of the Base Kit units (and since 40bit kit had Spacekeys included, I am assuming 95+% of these kits were bought to be combined with the Base Kit)
#2 I don't think they would hit MOQ outside of the base kit on this one as I expect lower numbers than Space Cadet overall. A spacebar kit does not exist, I think they only really make sense when they are an accent, otherwise I would have paired it with them like on GMK Camping.

Thank you for your response. You see it from a bigger picture than I do so I know you'll do what is best to hit MOQ. I just liked the blanks and was excited what that might have meant for the pricing. I personally would have liked arrows better than the duplicated R4 caps but you already answered that on MD (neutrality/pricing). I do like the colorway and lack of sublegends better than the SpaceCadet GB. Thank you for your work bringing this set to life!

Pricing for base kit will be a few bucks more than GMK Chocolatier since I have space keys in mine. Assembly Kit will be around the same, while it does have less keys, it also has a MOQ of just 100 compared to 250 of the base kit.
The only thing left to do on my list is figuring out if I can make the space keys convex, I'll update on that later on. Other than that, the kits are softlocked so that we can go ahead with the launch next month.

Understand it should be a hard decision. Ppl who wanna join GB are always focusing the board they got. GB organizer got much more than that to concern. As you said, very unfortunate that missing the set on a minivan because of a single keycap. Anyway, Assembly Kit is still irresistible in my opinion

yeah, it sucks that support isnt there for the board, but yeah, it is their decision and doesn't really matter why.
At least imo, kit support has become a little crazy. I know that it's a delicate balance, and that you want to support as many boards and layouts as possible. But it's not the keyset designer's fault that a small number of people chose to use and support a non-standard layout, and there is no requirement for them to provide support for every single board or layout out there. that's why, just like a lot of us in the community, I have a love/hate thing going with all the addon kits. on the one hand I love that people add support for the boards I use, but I'm not always fond of paying crazy prices for a bunch of keys I won't ever use. For example, I'm not happy that I'm going to have to buy both the Base Kit and the Assembly Kit just so that I can get some grey space bars for my split space CA66. But if I want to use them I don't have much choice.

I love Oblotzky's approach on the distribution of the set. Having the spacebar kit included in the base kit helps to drive the cost down and makes it a lot easier for an all in one solution. Very nice! Will definitely grab a set myself.

Hi Oblotzky. With group buy being just right around the corner, do you still think making change to the kit would be a good move? I mean I'm in for a set regardless because this has always been my favorite colorway, but I'm just worried the last minute modification might potentially sway people away from the set. Also, I'm not sure if this is the right time to ask so forgive me, but after GMK Calm Depths, do you consider having a SA Calm Depths R2 but through SP this time? I really really wish you'd at least give that a small consideration, even just a thought :thumb:

Interesting. I have never seen Preonic done like that. Most pics I've seen use mod colors all the way up both sides. That is why I was confused, because every layout I've personally done with mine has used a mod colored "~" in the upper left (as long as I could find one).

Yeah, kits are locked as we are launching tomorrow. I considered 1.5u Super + 1.5u Meta instead of 2x Super, but I decided on this version.
