I'll buy it.

I'm kind of disappointed in this - and most "retro" consoles. A functional cartridge slot would have been great.
Beyond that it would have been lovely to see some English patched RPG's that we never got.
Feels like another missed opportunity.

Then they would have to make the old carts, and how many of those would sell?
Don't misunderstand me; I love retro games way more than keebs, but making a functional slot would mean they would have to supply games, and that doesn't seem very feasible.

Ugh, tell me about it. What a mess. It was utter bedlam when the cancellation emails started rolling out...
-
yup, but I don't mind. I'll just get one next time.

i don't understand what happened with the first round of mini-nes..
Not sure I want to join all the hoopla of the second coming..
Emulators are pretty damn accurate.

Emulators *are* good, but require you to steal the games. They also aren't a great gift to less tech-savvy friends/family.

Get your butts ready. Nintendo just announced via Facebook:
"We appreciate the incredible anticipation that exists for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System: Super NES Classic Edition system, and can confirm that it will be made available for pre-order by various retailers late this month.
A significant amount of additional systems will be shipped to stores for launch day, and throughout the balance of the calendar year."

Haven't followed SNES emulators lately, but they don't faithfully emulate FX-chip games well. I hope those included with the mini SNES will fare better, since it's technically emulation as well.
So stoked for Star Fox 2.

nes mini and snes mini are both emulators with reported lag (due to not enough processing power).
If anything PC emulators are m0ar accurate.. hahahahahaha
I got 4.8 jigahertz on mah intel..

I want one just because it would be fun to have. My home brewed wii has every nes and snes game for which a rom is available (nearly every game made), but I still want one.

Oh, man! I was so bummed when Wal-Mart canceled my pre-order. I placed the order within a minute of receiving the email that it was available for pre-order. Bah!
Hopefully I'll be awake and ready when the *real* pre-order notification comes in.
