I wonder if they will also offer keycap sets sold separately.
How are PBT double shots compared to PBT dye sub? Are the legends noticiable when you touch the surface of the keycap?

And it's supposedly actual PBT on PBT, no less.
-
:thumb: This is exciting news. I think Leopold makes some of the better keyboards out there and their keycaps were already really good.
-
bleh, just got my 750R with silent reds about a month ago. Cool though.
-
Dang. That's really cool. :thumb:
-
Now, this is how you do double shot.
-
Double shot is niceee. I always felt that side printed keycaps look a little cheap
-
Real cool.
Nice to see some better quality caps on keyboards.
-
Very impressive. Will also likely cost a pretty penny because Doubleshot PBT is not easy to make.
-
The price of the Leopold FC750PD (PBT double shot) is 127€, only 10€ more expensive than the Leopold FC750R (front printed).

Thanks for sharing the info! I just joined the forum so I can answer questions here as well :-)
-
Cool. Do you have any info from Leopold about them selling these keycap sets?
-
Yes. We asked if we will be able to sell sets and they dont want it for now. They can only produce 3500 sets per month and they want to produce around 15K keyboards to be sold worldwide including all models and variations.
-
And I suppose that there will never be any ISO keyboards with them either ...
-
Eventually. They are yet to launch the ISO production. And they asking feedback on their layouts this morning.
-
What happened to "you can't have brighter font than the keycap with PBT"? Does that mean that they now can do doubleshot PBT with any color schemes? RIP GMK.

That was for dyesub.
And they have a long way to go to beat out GMK or even SP.
PBT is not automagically better than ABS.

Personally I think that DE and the Nordic key sets are so close that they could consider doing all of them as one larger set, ship all keys and leave final assembly of the keys that differ between DE, DK, SF and NO to the consumer.
SF shares some keys with DE that they do not share with DK and NO.
Then they could perhaps save on injection moulds at the expense of a little plastic and provide better sets for the Nordic languages without combining legends.

You are absolutely right and we are pushing them to do this. There is a big chance that this will eventually happen and we would be doing the assembly as part of our service.

What's the profile of these new keycaps? OEM or Leopold's "Step Scuplture 2"?
-
i find these legends a bit more attractive than gmk. am i going to get thrown into a fire for this?

It is Leopolds "Step Scuplture 2", very similar to Cherry profile imho.

Thanks! I have a set of SS2 caps on one of my boards and they're so much nicer than OEM profile.
-
This sounds good. Sounds like it could be "keycap endgame" for me if they do it right ...
Leopold's blank PBT caps are my favourites right now. Thick, Cherry profile and with very crisp edges and texture.

will the double shot pbt have white version?
-
yes white will have two color tone keycaps. Similar like the FC980C but then Doubleshot. My favorite version right now ;-).
Nordic, De and UK will be the regular versions and wont be made in Doubleshot PBT.
-
Ooh when's that one likely to come? Not interested in the black one but two tone!!!
-
Hey guys, also joining in, been here for long but missed this post.

Same time most likely :) - MyKeyboard has much more info, but they will launch worldwide at the same time.
-
indeed. They should launch at the same time in different versions but they are producing in batches and some items can come available earlier etc. The other keyboards are getting this threatment as well and should also launch around the same dates. Notice the should as I have my doubts about it though ;-)

Any indications that Leopold is going to jump on the MX Silver bandwagon?
-
Not for now it seems. I am happy they are sourcing MX clears and Silent MX Reds again.
-
Darnit, I just got a Leopold. This would be much nicer imo. It just goes to show DS pbt shrinkage is bs if they have the right equipment. That equipment I am told runs about 3 Million USD. That is why you do not see this often. I am surprised Leopold had that kind of Cabbage but I know nothing of their finances. These look real nice. A cap in a cap. Not just the top with a piece heated in. Perhaps this technology costs even more than the aforesaid number. These look sweet. I ended up going right back to my favorite board when I received the Leopold but this might change things. If these are under $150 I will buy one. If they are in fact that low I do not see how they can make a profit. If only he Topre RGB was built like this. The whole thng, Leopold quality would be a smoking nice board. DS ABS still gets shiny. Some love it, others hate it. I much prefer PBT or better yet POM but go find those. These are great looking caps but I just realized they might actually be Vortex? That would explain about the investment in equipment.
-
The keycaps are not from Vortex or IKBC ;-).
-
Hmm. It would be interesting if they have it in house because my understanding is it is over 3 Million USD. I did not know Leopold is that big to make that kind of investment. They do look like Vortex but I will take your word.
-
The legends and profile look completely different than Vortex.
-
they Release it yet i saw on taobao they have fc750r pd now
-
They're supposed to release the 660m with these keycaps, which I am waiting for :D
-
The Koreans got their PD first as there are lots of Youtube videos of typing tests.
What is interesting is in some examples it looks like some silent boards have switches that don't seem dampened. I don't know if it's a problem with the switch batch or if the factory mixed in regular reds.

Is there any news about this? Are Leopold going to do ISO keyboards?
