Title: Plate Mount Cherry Stab Hole Question
Post by: _haru on Wed, 26 July 2017, 04:03:32
Is it true that plate mount Cherry stabs will fit into holes designed for Costar ones? Also are they like PCB mount ones where you have to desolder the entire keyboard to fix the stab?

No, the plate cut outs for Cherry's and Costar's stabilizers are completely different. Although a combined cutout can be easily achieved by overlapping the two;
 swill's builder (http://builder.swillkb.com/) will graciously do the dirty work for you.

Not for 2u keys, it highly depends on the cutout for larger stabilizer. The wire will go underneath the plate, so make sure you have the longitudinal cutout across the switch hole, between the two stabilizers' cutout for this very purpose. Again, swill's tool is already programmed to do so.

Can we remove/fix teh stab with Costar ones?

Absolutely. In Costar stabilizers, the wire sits on the top of the plate, as you can see here (http://i.imgur.com/KKaglJF.jpg).
The only catch is with the switch orientation: Costars' wires must be placed on the LED side of the switch. Keep that in mind when placing the ISO Enter switch, if even, on the PCB.

wow.  this tool is brilliant.  Is there a http://builder.swillkb.com equivalent for PCBs?
