Title: mx nature white retooled?
Post by: 537Z3R on Fri, 04 August 2017, 12:06:18
I was thinking of buying a keyboard with the new Cherry MX blacks as they are smooth now, but still i think they will be a little too heavy for gaming but reds are light for me. The perfect middle for this seems the MX nature white but i definitely would like them to be smooth as new retooled blacks. But I can't find any confirmation if they have the retooled stems or if they are smooth as the new ones or scratchy as previous cherry switches. Can someone confirm if they are? Thx

You should try a board with Cherry MX RGB (clear housing) blacks. I think they're just what you're looking for.

What is the difference in feeling between RGB blacks or standard blacks? I read somewhere the RGB housings are made of a different plastic that results in a less loud switch. Not sure if true.

About two months ago I bought a Ducky One TKL RGB with RGB blacks. These are much smoother than the other blacks I have here. They also feel just a bit lighter. I'm sure the specs say the RGB & regular blacks are the same force, so I guess the smoothness makes them feel lighter also.

I have a Ducky G2 Pro PBT with blacks (had that one at least four years), a TG3 with blacks, and I don't have anymore: another TG3 with blacks and a Cherry board with blacks (got that one used so I don't know how much use it had seen before I bought it. Had very smooth blacks, tho). The RGB blacks in my Ducky One feel like none of the others. They feel like a different switch.

You should consider Gateron blacks or Gateron Yellows. Those two variants are in between in terms of spring weight to Cherry MX Red and Cherry MX Black. The yellows are closer to the red, and the blacks are closer to the Cherry blacks.

The gateron yellow and black wobble more than cherry switches... and the retooled ones I've read feel even more stable

I don't think blacks will be too heavy for gaming. I have been using reds with 65g korean springs for a long time and it has been fine for me.
