Title: Found a Schneider G81-3026

Hey there I'm new to the forum, I was looking for an advice about what to do with a Schneider G81-3026 keyboard, that a friend of my mom gave me a few months ago and I found it today, since the PS/2 connector is somewhat deformed.

This is the keyboard and the PS/2 connector: http://imgur.com/a/IiVnh

Any tips about what I could do about it would be appreciated since I want to clean it and start using it ASAP, also thanks in advance! :)

You can replace it with a 6-Pin Mini Din connector. They are easy to find and don't cost much.

I don't know what country you're in. Any electronics place like DigiKey or Mouser would have them. I'm sure you could find one on Ebay.

How difficult? - I can't answer that. You'll need to solder the wires to the new connector.

I live in Portugal and I have a Mouser here but 0 skill with soldering :v

The first step is to have the new connector in your hand. Then you can find someone to install it. If you're near a college or university, the electronics instructor would probably have someone in the class do the job for cheap or free. Or go to a musical instrument shop. The people who work on electric guitars and amplifiers could certainly do it.

Thanks I might do that, I just have one question, the point here is to change the whole cable or just the connector? I'm really confused at this point, I'm really sorry :c

EDIT: Looks like that the connector isn't PS/2 but AT!

Snip off the connector, leaving a few centimeters of cable attached.

Strip back the jacket of the cable/connector so you can get to the wires.

Use a multimeter to match the wire colors to the connector pin positions. Write it down.

Disassemble the shell of the new connector (they're all different but come apart in some way so you can get to the terminals)

Prepare the cable by peeling the jacket back, separating the wires, and stripping the wires.

Solder the wires to the terminals, making sure to match the color/position you wrote down.

Assemble the connector shell.

AT & PS/2 are electrically identical, the only difference is the connector size. PS/2 is the way to go - all the USB converters are for PS/2.
