Title: Deal of my IBM PC
Post by: pingmaster on Thu, 10 August 2017, 17:00:21
Well, thorough my daily searches of the interwebs for old stuff, I came across a great deal. 200$ for an IBM PC in MINT CONDITION. Came with everything, monitor, keyboard, documentation, disks, you name it, it had it.

I'm stunned there's no yellowing of the plastics. Maybe it's not ABS?

Im not sure which plastic its made of but its been sitting under UV resistant plastic cover which soaked in the sunlight instead of the PC. That cover is now a nice shade deep yellow. Ill post a picture later today.

Do IBM PCs yellow that much? Certainly not like old Apples, which yellowed from the fire retardant that was added to them.

Most IBM equipment pre IBM AT were painted plastic or metal, so no. Even the keyboards were painted.

He doesny havean IBM monitor so pretty sure that's just cappy plastic that'll yellow.

All the hydrogen peroxide in the beauty supplies has caused the retrobrite effect.

Just titrate her iodometrically and she'll be fine.
