Title: Pillow Wars
Post by: meiosis on Sun, 20 August 2017, 20:27:20
Hello!

I am in the market for a new pillow looking to spend at most $150.

I am a side sleeper who ends up face up normally when I wake up.

Looking for recommendations, I did check a few sites and it came down to:

https://www.amazon.com/Coop-Home-Goods-ADJUSTABLE-hypoallergenic/dp/B01LZHMODV/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1503263755&sr=8-4&keywords=coop%2Bpillow&th=1
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00EINBSJ2/ref=psdc_10671043011_t1_B01LZHMODV

Previously I have used mostly fake down or goose down, but not sure if I should continue now that memory foam is becoming more popular.

I just love love love IKEA's ROLLEKA memory foam pillows (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/70269839/). I tried one about 5 years ago and have never looked back.

I actually use it with the flat side up, not the curvy side. I change position often—usually sleeping on one side or the other, but sometimes on my back—and these pillows are the most comfortable I've ever used, no matter how I happen to be lying.

And because they're so compact, they're easy to take along when traveling. Which is a good thing, because everything else feels like a big mushy cartoon marshmallow to me now.

The cover is removable and washable. And they're only $15! My wife has a fancy $100 pillow, and there's no way I'd ever trade my ROLLEKA for it. Simply a great product, IMHO.

I also use a solid memory foam pillow, similar to IKEA Rölleka, after my nose had got more sensitive to dust and a doctor recommended that I stay away from natural fibres because they tend to attract more dust mites.
It fits me because I was previously used to thick "box-pillows" of goose down or combos. I also tend to fall asleep on the side and wake up face up, and I like the head support when laying on the side.
The synthetic fibre pillows are too soft and warm for me - if you are used to them, solid memory foam pillows may not be for you.

Looking for recommendations, I did check a few sites and it came down to:

https://www.amazon.com/Coop-Home-Goods-ADJUSTABLE-hypoallergenic/dp/B01LZHMODV/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1503263755&sr=8-4&keywords=coop%2Bpillow&th=1

I see that it contains small pieces of memory foam. I don't see the point of having memory foam if it is not in a single piece - what would be the advantage over having "regular" balls of synthetic fibre then?

i wonder if there is an artisan pillow community that rates the actuation forces of different pillows and has group buys for pillow cases like us.

Tp4 haz tried on numerous occasions.

among attempts,  it never quite fits the curvature of the neck regardless of the angle or style of docking.
