I've gotten a shot every year for as long as I can remember, never had the flu.
But I get a sore arm and a metallic taste in my mouth after the shot.

I get one 2 out of 3 years. I have not had the flu in several years.
People say "I have the flu" when they have a little sniffle. When you have "The Flu" (aka influenza) you know it and it is not just a small nuisance.

It's also impossible to get the flu from a flu shot. Anyone who says so got it from somewhere else.
