Title: Xwhatsit Controller Soldering Tips?

Before I potentially break my keyboard, does anyone have any tips on soldering an Xwhatsit Controller to an IBM model F?

Assuming you have an original ribbon cable, just make sure each wire is twisted tight and they are all oriented the same direction, that way the xwhatsit essentially 'drops in place', perhaps with some toothpick manipulation.  Once all the wires are in place with no stray strands, solder away.
