Title: [SOLD] Open box 2017 Unicomp Ultra Classic, nice colorway
Post by: ander on Thu, 07 September 2017, 19:54:38
*New Open Box* Unicomp Model M Buckling Spring Mechanical Keyboard (http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Open-Box-Unicomp-Model-M-Buckling-Spring-Mechanical-Keyboard-/253129343510)

Currently at $50 + $15 shipping with 22 hours to go.

These are ~$100 shipped direct from Unicomp—and isn't there usually an extra charge for the custom colorway too? So this may be a nice deal on a like-new example.

If they only made 7x white spacebars.

What the hell were they thinking switching to that layout anyway?!

Unicomp's ability to uglify their keyboards never ceases to surprise me.

So they could support 3 or 4 mods on the right side of the board with the same barrel plate.  M's look better with 3 mods there with the 7x spacebar IMO.

YMMV, but IMO the M looks best in 101/102. The way it was intended ^^ .

I use a Realforce 87U and 104U so the layout doesn't bother me, but the unnaturally super bright white keys do.

Okay, by "nice" colourway, I guess I meant unusual. As most of you know, the stock Brilliant White (http://www.pckeyboard.com/page/product/UW40P4A) is all white:

...so the one listed here was obviously a special order. (If only Unicomp would take a bit of time and trouble and not post snapshots of their keeps that make them look like crime victims, huh? All that's missing is the chalk outline.)

So hey, it is what it is. If you don't like it, don't buy it.

Actually, it's over, someone bought it. So you don't have to argue anymore about whether you like it or not.  I mean, if you really want to, knock yourselves out, but it's moot. Maybe you're into mootness, dunno.

Who was arguing? If you post something like this in a forum, opinions are to be expected.
