Title: is there a way to change the mx spring without desoldering the switch
Post by: weeaboocookie on Sat, 09 September 2017, 12:01:44
hello just got a pok3r with mx blue and am coming from outemu blues switches. the only problem i have with it other than learning the layers is that, the spacebar feels a bit mushy it does not have that great tactile feel like the other keys on my board. is there a way to add just a heavier spring. thanks for reading  ;) ;)

Check if the plate allows to remove the switch top; although unlikely, if it is doable you do not need to de-solder it. Other option you may try is to clip the stabs', it is common in Cherry stabs to cause mushiness in its stock form, for this, you do not need to alter the switch, and it is more likely to be the culprit of the mushiness.

Look closely at the plate. If the plate have little cutouts (http://i.imgur.com/LtlhDJD.png) at the sides of the sides of the switches, you can removes the top.

If the plate is cut into neat squares (http://i.imgur.com/hZfrAjy.png) that do not give any extra room around the switches, then you need to desolder them all to swap the springs. Which is why I went PCB mount and I'm going custom plate in the future. Less hassle to deal with.
