So with this black Realforce I recently got, there is a noticable scratch above the right arrow key. It is not on the surface, but seems to be covered by a layer of plastic. The scratch itself is only visible if the light shines from a certain angle, but the covering layer above has an inconsistent look to it. It is slightly darker around that area. At least myself, it bothers.
The seller told me that all Realforce boards are like that. It is supposed to be a byproduct of the molding process, when the plastic meets from different directions at that point.
Does anyone have a black Realforce without this defect?

My RF87UB55 is not like that. I can't imagine any RF keyboard leaving the factory with that defect. If this was a "normal" thing, there would have been lots of discussion about it both here and on other keyboard forums. I never heard of this. I think this is something that has happened in use. I don't think it came from the factory like that.

No, they would never send out a board like that..
That is not how it's suppose to be, return it... !!
Use the fact that the ebayer who sold it to you admitted to the fact that that scratch was there before selling it to you..
and that he did not disclose the damage..

Hmm, strange. From what I heard from others this defect seems present on a few RFs, so it must be from the factory. Maybe a bad batch.
Nevertheless I will send it back anyway. Thx

As you may know, Topre doesn't just make keebs; they make all kinds of high-precision stuff (http://www.topre.co.jp/en/products/press/), and their QA is considered among the best anywhere. I don't think it's possible that they'd overlook such a conspicuous mark... It must've occurred after the original sale.

Looks like they make Airconditioning , keyboards, and refrigerator truck coolers..
Sooo... it's a very serial killer friendly company to say the least.. hahahahahahahahaha
Socially awkward weeaboo, fat, out of shape, in a topre air conditioned room, typing on a topre keyboard, planning to carry out his next evil plan to capture victims storing them in his topre-refrigeration trucks..
hahahahahah

Just because it --came-- like that, doesn't mean it's not defective..

Don't bother sending it back, You even said you can only see it at certain angles/lighting, and there's a good chance you'll receive another one with the same mark.
My White RF87u55 has the same mark. Just enjoy the keyboard, why are you looking at the case under certain lighting? You should be typing with it :P

Thanks, I think you're right. The dark stroke / mark above the right arrow key is clearly visible.

Fully agree. I'd expect a $200 plus keyboard to be flawless.

It is very much noticable on my black Realforce in the afternoon, when the sun shines from the side onto the keyboard. The scratch strongly reflects the sunlight. Looks like a thin, silvery line, or a hairline crack. Trust me, it's annoying.
Still considering if sending it back from Europe to the US is worth it though, as it seems I will have to pay for shipping.

Where'd you buy it from?

I re-iterate, why are you staring at your keyboard at all?
You're going to waste money sending it back and getting a new one with the same "defect". Wait for Norbauer's aluminum case for the RF87 and use that :D
Or just enjoy the keyboard. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
