I thought I'd share something I've been working on. A while back I design some wood cases for the Let's Split, and I have built several of those over the past couple of months. I recently met another community member on Reddit that was able to do waterjet cutting and CNC milling of aluminum. He took the files for my wood case and milled it from aluminum. Since the walls were designed for wood, they are thicker than a typical aluminum case and the end result is HEAVY! Each half weighs over a pound. With the brass plates that he waterjet cut, the entire case weighs close to 3 lbs.

That looks beautiful. Mandatory disclaimer: I love yellow metals - brass, bronze, gold - so I'm probably biased. Over 1.2kg - without the switches etc - is a significant mass.

That looks gorgeous!
I would love to see that brass plate on a dark wood. That might get me to buy a LS kit...

Thanks. I'm not actually building this one. I built the case and had the plates cut. It's going out to a customer.

Well that's one bloody lucky customer.
