Title: Turning Model F cable into USB
Post by: xueyao on Sun, 24 September 2017, 03:12:29
Hi guys! Got a few spare Model F AT and XT cables lying around the house. Is it possible to terminate one end with a miniUSB or microUSB while the other gets passively converted from XT to AT and to USB male A? Are there any limitations or problems that I might run into?

Just solder the mini usb plug to the cable (remove DIN connector before), then detach the cable from the pcb, check pin assignment, add concerter, wire it up..

Thanks for the advice! I'm cutting the end attached to the controller and hooking up a miniUSB there. The other end will be XT>PS/2>USB passively converted.

That’s possible. But AFAIK as you go mini USB on one end you could also cut off the DIN plug and solder USB A to it, as there will be no conversation needed.
