I was recently thinking about my keyboards gender. Kind of like how lots of guys call cars girls. I was thinking my keyboards are like an old Labrador retriever, good ol boys.

I have anime anthropomorphs of my boards, planning on getting them commissioned one day and then making sleeves for them
Elzy(esse) (LZ-S least creative one but that's what I call it)
Fuuka (GON)
Saber (LSv2 cuz koreans don't have a V sound)

Yui (lustro unit 01)

I mean i don't like to call them by "GH60 in a chinese case" especially if i have more than one... or "b.face in lustro"
LZ-S and KMAC and stuff makes sense to just call them by that, lightsaver, minivan but when you have some scrapped together keyboard with various sourced parts i think they deserve a name :P

I kinda have one. When I brought my AMJ60 (white/pink) to school, some kid called it a 'Marshmallow', and the name has stuck :P

Yeah. If I could get a buck for the amount of times someone told me to just buy a Razer, I could build a whole nother board :/

I have one named franky. The pcb was from a black EagleTech keyboard with the Outemu hot swap switches, and the case was from the rose gold EagleTech keyboard with the pre-hot swappable switches. The rose gold version was unusable because of chattering on day one, but I loved the pretty rose gold case. The switches I used though was from neither, and are Kailh switches(Long Hua) with Outemu compatible pins, since i like them better, and the white badge on the rose gold case was replaced with the black badge from the original, and I also replaced the white caps on the rose gold version with the black caps from the black version. The white keys have that ugly gamer font, but I also think black contrasts with the rose gold better than white did anyway.
Originally, I bought the rose gold version because it was gorgeous, but then found out the switches weren't actually hot swappable, that feature was only on the black version. The black version though was boring, and I didn't want another plain black keyboard. So I combined the best of both, and named him franky, short for frankenstein. You cannot buy this keyboard in this configuration.

PS: I know the spacebar is upside. Upside down is the way spacebars should ever be.

Just be happy you don't have unique cars. It's the same thing from those that aren't in the know. It's okay--ignorance always comes in that same flavor.

I'd never really thought about giving my board a name but this logic is persuading to me. How best to decide though? A "name-my-board" thread?

YES! This would be so much fun and the best way to crowdsource the bestest of names. ;) ;D
For the record though, don't do it when naming your child--my dad did back in the day and scrapped every suggestion. :))
