Hi,
I'm quite new in this world. I recently bought my first mechanical board. A GMMK TKL and I'm trying to pick the switches after testing a reasonable variety, my question is: mixing switches wouldn't be a Frankenstein work instead of a masterpiece? Right now this is what I have in mind:
Numbers: Cherry MX RGB Speed with Zealencio
Most part of the keys: Kaihua Kailh Speed Bronze with 40A Thin O-Rings
ESC, Spacebar, Enter, Tab, Caps Lock, Shift(s), Ctrl(s) and Alt(s) : Zealio 67g with Zealencio
My main purpose for this keyboard is to play MMORPG I use the WASD keys but the numbers is where I really mash.
Thanks in advanced for any inputs

Seems like a complete Frankenstein to me. I feel like the inconsistency would throw off my typing, and I can't imagine what that would actually feel like. I personally don't think all that mixing and matching for the sake of mashing keys in an MMO is really worth it.
That being said, to each their own. As long as you keep the alphas consistent it should be fine. If you have thought through the whole thing and feel that it's something you would enjoy, more power to you.

I've seen people do it in the past but it seems kinda silly imo. Unless ONLY using the board to play a specific game. It would screw up my typing.
-
I kind of dropped this idea.
I'm now considering returning the GMMK and maybe getting a Plum84.
Anyways, thank you for the inputs.

If it's your ideal, then it's your masterpiece ;)
How come you're going for a Plum?

I'm not 100% convinced yet. I also posted another thread about it: https://geekhack.org/index.php?topic=92504.0
If I stick with the GMMK I'm thinking to use Gateron Silent Switches, I don't want to handle with the O-Rings or Zealencios solution. That is why the mix of switches are not making more sense to me anymore.
Always open to inputs/thoughts if you have.

If you keep the Alphas the same switch then i don't see any problems. My alphas consist of Zealios 62gram and the rest is cherry mx black and enter, backspace, esc blue switches :p.

And this is the final result.
Kailh Speed Silver on Alphas
Kailh Speed Cooper on CapsLock, Tab, Shift(s), Ctrl(s), Atl(s), Enter and Backspace
Kailh Dark Yellow on the Spacebar
Kailh Pro Purple on Esc
Varmilo PBT Keycaps
All with this O-rings (free shipping)

Dude, whatever feels good to you is just fine; there are no rules.
Not to sound like our vocabulary-challenged president (LOL), but typing is a "very, very" personal thing. It's so personal that people can be identified as conclusively by their typing patterns (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Keystroke_dynamics) as their fingerprints.
So while it's fun to discuss this stuff, and to hear everyone's opinions, you are the ultimate judge—and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.
