Title: Steam's gotten real fast recently..

Finally getting some acceptable service.. not quite 117MB/s.. but it's not 30MB/s either.

Anyway ... the number is probably from how fast Steam read it in linear fashion from some network buffers at some point in time, but the data might not have arrived in order.
Reception might have slowed down for one or another reason and when they started up again lots of bytes could have been queued up.

the real joke is that my internet speed doesn't even get close to 1MB/s

Hahahaha.. Tp4 haz the gigabit fios service.. $100/month + TV. It actually downloaded at 92MB/s average the entire trip.

But, I've yet to find a web service that will give me the full 117MB/s limit all in one place.

This is off my ghetto n66u router which is too slow to handle the connection. sigh...

Its faster on the free fios router that comes with the service, 940/920, but I don't trust the hardware to not spy on me..

Going to get the Nighthawk 7k this christmas , hopefully, for m0ar speed.

Actually getting tired of people *****ing about that like it's a problem with Steam. That's the persons problem. I've played almost all my Steam games for a good while bar the trash I got in Humble Bundles.

i'm fortunate enough to pay $90aud/m in a couple of months when fiber is finally connected to my street

however it's just 100/40. while it's a tremendous upgrade for us, it's far from equal to the rest of the world. this will probably me my max speed for a decade or two too

This was installed and negotiated together with the other co-ops in the neighbourhood and the rate is very favourable -- for those tenants who use it. I have neighbours who watch only the national TV-channels or don't watch TV at all, so I'm kind of leeching off them.
There are similar cooperations like this here and there, some only for Internet and some only for cable TV, but it is far from being the norm in my city. It is more common in well-to-do neighbourhoods I guess.

But then I get sadz 'cause my computers won't play most new games and I've got all the old ones I want already.
