Title: Bent Plate Cases
Post by: _rubik on Thu, 16 November 2017, 16:39:43
I am interested in getting the Southpaw 65% board,  but was curious about the bent plate case. I know kbd75 has done something similar. I'm wondering what people think about it. I'm worried that it'll have too much flex and feel rather light and dinky. That being said, with a pcb and acrylic diffuser, I'm not sure what to think.

For anyone who has use a bent plate case, what are your thoughts?

It depends on whether it's made from stainless steel or aluminium... I have the 1st round preonic, and it feels even heavier/sturdier than cnc aluminium in similar profile.

They don't really mention it anywhere, but I found a spot on their website where it's referenced as stainless. I'm sure that adds a great deal of rigidity.

IMHO you should only buy a bent plate case if your keyboard is basically staying in one place for the rest of its life. It's fairly easy to mess up your PCB if you chuck a bent plate cased keyboard in your bag or something.
