Had one today ...
Telemarketer: Hello, I'm Damien from (mumble mumble), how are you?
Rowdy: I'm good, thanks.

I used to get spam calls from India all the time. They would say something in an almost incomprehensible accent like, "Hello, I am Donald Johnson from the IRS." Like yeah, OK dude, sure you are :))

Early January , Nturtle recieves audit letter, owes IRS $15,000 unpaid and $35,000 in fines.
Signed, Donald Johnson.

For whatever reason I have this nervous twitch that starts when I hear the caller says hello my name is [name] from [company]. Accidental savage thumb syndrome?

I've gotten a few similar to that yea, but the other side goes silent for about 10 seconds as soon as I pick up the call
One from Microsoft tech support that I could remember quite clearly, my computer was apparently showing warning messages for viruses.
I told the guy I don't have a computer and he insisted that I do.
Well, he ran out of things to say so hung up.

a lot of these calls are apparently just calling to literally check if your number belongs to someone who will be likely to pick up their phone in the future. numbers like these are more valuable to marketers compared to dead numbers or numbers that don't pick up, etc

Yup..
if you don't know the number, never pick up..
and always use a random fone number when online shopping..

They were trying to get your answering machine.
While some companies want to speak to you, some have found they get better results leaving an advertisement on your answering machine.

I've had lots of automated ones recently. I try to block their numbers every time they call me but it doesn't seem sto kerb them...

don't block, just leave it, they're less likely to call that way.

No, it was a random person calling us (at work). We get about half a dozen of those every day.
Usually they ask to speak to the "business owner". He is literally away at the moment, and most of them seem to accept that as an excuse.

Yeah, I also was informed about myself being in a car accident.

I have started receiving junk calls where my full name and proper phone number show as "Caller" on the Caller ID
