Ya'll got one of these ?

Looking for light optical..

what's the highest magnification i can get for $500..

not looking at slides, looking at metal surfaces.

I'm not @ that lvl.. hahahaha

it's between microscope or a 1080ti..

i guess i could swing a $700 microscope, But i wanted to get a $500 microscope, and then do up a servo kit for it with the remaining $200..

i was thinking telescope as well,  but then i thought.. Outside + Tp4 = Death of Tp4..

I'm not a metallography expert but I don't think you need a cytology microscope for that, let alone a TEM.
Optics' prices vary dramatically depending on the manufacturer but if you're doing it for the sake of curiosity, a professional $300 optical microscope will do just fine, at least for starters.
I have a Hund Wetzlar V200 at work with 4X, 10X and 40X lenses which you could find, used, for about $200 and does the job.

I have a normal sized scope.

I believe there are procedures now to help those with microscopes.

Not small enough if you need a microscope to see them.
