Title: Greetings from Hong Kong
Post by: ar_hoi on Sat, 25 November 2017, 21:50:05
Hi I am Hoi from Hong Kong.

I started buying Mechanical Keyboards since earlier this year

The scene in this city is a bit boring, seems like most people here only talk about Mechanical Keyboards in relation to Gaming. It is definitely much more than that right?

Welcome Hoi!

Gaming has pushed mech boards into the mainstream, but they definitely are much more than that as I've been using them for decades now just for typing.  What's your favorite switch?

I have two boards now. A Ducky TKL which is a Cherry MX Black and a 10 key pad, cherry brown. The brown is a nicer one definitely. Black is slightly too heavy. I would like to try MX red as well... I think it's just very hard to decide until you spend a longer period of time using it right?

I plan to have a 60% non back lit board next...

Nice!  I think you'll probably find reds too light if you like browns.  Do you like tactile, clicky, or linear?  And yes, the more time you have with them the more you know what you like/dislike.

I'm not into the smaller boards because I need a full size layout (and am just so used to it now after 2-3 decades), but have considered a smaller layout with an external numpad.

Exactly how I have it now... I do a fair bit of number crunching so I have my numbed (Ducky Pocket) set up on the left hand side. Very handy this way for me as I can use numpad with a mouse at the same time.
