Hello
I plan on to mod the cherry mx silver speed switches. The stock 62g springs actuate at 45g. I wanted to swap the springs, so the switch actuates around 60g. I know that 67g gold springs actuate around 55g.
Does that mean I should go for the 72g gold springs for 60g actuation or should I go for the 78g gold springs? Thank you for the help.

Dude: I've been interested in Speed Silvers for some time, and can't help being curious. You find them too light by default? But isn't speed the whole idea? Why would you want them to be heavier? It seems like a contradiction, on the surface.
But maybe you want them to be heavier so you won't constantly be bottoming out on their shorter travel? Technically, traveling beyond actuation, and having to absorb the shock of bottoming, would reduce typing efficiency. I think that's why many fast typists strive to "skim" the keys, pressing just to actuation and no farther. In that way, your quest for heavier springs would make sense.
I'm a relatively fast typist myself, but prefer heavier switches (buckling springs, MX Greens). So before I'd seek a Silver board of my own, it'd be good to have some feedback, especially from someone in your position. Thanks!

I have become accustomed to heavier linears now. On top of that, I like silvers for their reduced key travel, which is 3.4mm. Even 1mm shorter than Kailh Speeds.
However, the downside is the earlier actuation and a light 45g actuation. I would be making much more mistakes. To combat that I can make the actuation force higher. Therefore, reducing accidental key presses/typos, while still enjoying the reduced travel.

Did you go with the heavier springs? Helping a friend and he is thinking about doing this.

Also curious for the results here. Typing on Speed Silvers right now and thinking of modding them but not entirely sure how yet. I do know that I like them a lot but want to somehow tweak them... heavier springs sounds pretty interesting for sure!

Speed silvers are known for speed, but that speed could cause accidental key presses. I suggest you go ahead and make it heavier. Absolutely.:rolleyes:
