Title: F-122s: Disappearing?
Post by: ander on Sun, 03 December 2017, 06:41:31
Am I the only one who's noticed?

Does it seem like 122-key (terminal type) Model F's seem to be disappearing from eBay?

I haven't seen any for weeks. Have so many people discovered that they're the most usable un-modded F layout, that they've all been snatched up, are being jealously guarded rather than sold, etc.? You couldn't blame anyone; they're awesome boards—but I'm just saying, it'd be quite a phenomenon, right?

Nah.  The market cycles. Sometimes we see a glut or a disappearance of certain board.

some government surplus shuts down a warehouse or cleans out some storage facility and sells off a few hundred. Then once they've passed hands a few times you end up with an abundance of them on ebay. Happens every couple years it seems.

At least thats what I guess happens.

Although probably quite a lot of them were made, it is still a finite number.

Many would have been destroyed or disposed of in a terminal way.

Many are in the hands of collectors.

Probably not that many of them left on the market.
