Hello! I'm new to the forum, so don't blast me if this is in the wrong place :(. Anyway, I tried converting my BTC-5339R to PS/2 and found that the wire and the PCB have this cord attached to them. Are these important (and most importantly possible) for the conversion? Thanks in advance! (P.S. I don't wanna buy an adapter cause that's the easy way out ;D)

Forgot to add the attachment, silly me.. :D

Looks like a grounding wire for the shield in the cable. It helps reduce interference. You can probably get way without it.

Sorry, I should've clarified , the PCB and cord both have their own one of these. I did a test on the one for the cable, and apparently it attaches to the perimeter of the 5pin connector?

It's tge connector ground. I suspect you'll probably need to properly ground both considering foam and foil keyboards are capacitive. I've had several instances of capacitive keyboards failing to function because I didn't tighten the screws that held the grounding wires all the way, even though they clearly made contact with the chassis, apparently that wasn't good enough!

Is there any possibility of doing that through the PS/2 port?

connect to ANYTHING that's earth ground.. got to have the right cable, some don't have ground/shield wire.
