Have you just been trying to open the file from within Outlook?

Maybe your file association is broken for .ost files. Try right-clicking the file, pointing to "Open With...", then clicking "Outlook" in the list. (If Outlook isn't in the list, click "Choose Default Program..." to find and select Outlook.

OST is a cache file that syncs outlook with the mail server. It is created when you setup your account in Outlook. You can export your email account (OST) to a PST in Outlook under import/export options. Also you can try to open the file here: https://www.viewertool.com/ostviewer.html (https://www.viewertool.com/ostviewer.html)
