Title: My Mediocre Keycaps, Artisan Beginnings
Post by: Jtheme on Tue, 05 December 2017, 18:12:11
I'm now to this point where I can show an alright image.
Still, am needing to polish these guys so you can see through them better.
But I would like some C&C

Even before sanding those look super clean! Nice job  :thumb:

What do they look like on a backlit keyboard?

Nice! I wish my caps casted that cleanly haha. Are you using a pressure pot? How do you deal with bubbles?

Yes, I am using a pressure pot.  I tried for 4 months of different types of resin and a lot of home remedies to get rid of bubbles and nothing worked like I wanted it to.  I just had to bite the bullet and get a pressure pot, It's been the best thing I have done for my casts!

The best cast I had without it though was using ArtResin it's an epoxy resin that isn't supposed to yellow.  Just make sure you have a good amount of mold release every time or you'll say bye bye to your stems haha. And a lot of patience, it takes around 72 hours for it to fully harden up

Hmm... Okay I guess that's what I expected. Been trying hand pours with a polyurethane resin. Was waiting for the right time to get a pressure pot. Looks like it's the logical next step.

Thanks for the advice!
