I ran into this SA Solarized Penumbra at https://originative.co/products/sa-solarized for $260 USD ... Seems a little to high ... Is it worth that much?

No, it'd be sold out if everybody thought it was worth that much.

I've seen R1s listed at lower prices and not sell after weeks, so Penumbra prices really aren't too high any more.

Man, beautiful caps, but it's clearly an example of prestige pricing (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Premium_pricing). You could buy a very nice entire keeb for that kind of dough.

Even if I did have that kind of cash to toss away, I'd feel ridiculous supporting such manipulative, exploitative marketing.

But yes, beautiful caps... I've always pined for that Space Cadet look. Oh well.  :?(

BTW, penumbra is a term associated with solar eclipses. How appropriate—when people buy things like this, you could consider it an eclipse of common sense.
