Title: IBM Model M, certain keys registering multiple keystrokes
Post by: secularzarathustra on Tue, 30 March 2010, 19:27:15
Has anyone run into a problem like this?

After a recent clean one of my model m's started registering double keystrokes for certain keys. For example if I hit "m" it registers "mh", when I hit "h" though it is correct. There are only four keys on the board that are doing this.

Is this board finally dead, or is there some way to resuscitate it.

There might be a little water in the membrane (if you used water/cleaner).  Either that, or some broken rivets.

Crap, probably water in the membrane. Hmmm...maybe a hair dryer will help :)

I did remove them. Done this many times before without a hitch. Shouldn't of watched a video while cleaning, but man it's repetitive :)
