Title: Has anybody lubed up any Kailh BOX Burnt Oranges yet?
Post by: mudcakehoney on Sun, 14 January 2018, 20:59:21
If so what are your thoughts? I just received these bad boys and from initial testing I am in love. Wondering what your thoughts on lubing them are and if it's worth the effort.

I thought all Kailh box switches are factory pre-lubed.  So you don't need to lube it because it's already lubed.

:P

You I heard that too but assumed it would be minimal. If it’s generally considered enough I’d rather not waste the time

I actually just got some Box Oranges last week as well, and I opened one up. The box that houses the contacts has a decent amount of a medium weight lubricant. There is no lube on the slider or spring. I think they feel pretty darn smooth already (I also just put Box Pale Blues in my DasKeyboard and they are extremely smooth right from the factory), so my personal opinion would be that it isn’t worth the effort to add additional lubricant. In fact, I’d be worried that lube would reduce the already somewhat weak tactility in the Box Oranges. However, it wouldn’t hurt to lube a few and see what you prefer.

I lubed mine and this is what they sound like

I definitely recommend lubing them, and it does not dampen the bump at all.

Lube the whole stem, even the bump
