Title: The SlideBar
Post by: captsis on Fri, 23 February 2018, 22:59:59
HAVE YOU SEEN THIS ****? ITS THE GREATEST THING I HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO USE FOR!

idk if this dude is on GH but i found it on Reddit.

here (https://slidekb.com/) is his site. R2 has an IC right now. I am not the creator but stumbled across this and wanted to spread the word on GH.

The best demonstration IMO (https://i.imgur.com/wPurLOb.mp4)

I can’t decide if I love it, or if I hate it.

Either way, nice find.

I could see some use for it, but eh, I really have to exercise my imagination... This is not not new tech, motorized equalizer tables are old tech, but they actually make more sense there, since it allows for presets without taking away your linear granularity.

Maybe it's a social experiment to see if the keyboarding enthusiast community would catch it ...

I wonder why it continues to move in the volume adjustment demo clip. The other question is whether it's clickable.

Cute little project.

Would be interesting if it set the OS volume and the OS volume actually set it. That actually has a purpose. It will physically show you the volume level. Not much of a purpose, but a purpose none the less :P

I'd actually be mildly interested in a board with something like this integrated, or a volume knob, either way.

Well, it's a scissor switch and it's stupidly overpriced considering, but there is this (https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Advanced-Wireless-Keyboard-Creative/dp/B0768LTVCQ).

this (https://www.amazon.com/Microsoft-2WR-00001-Surface-Dial/dp/B01NARIOAX) is bit more modular than above if that's what you're looking for btw.

Yea, I've actually thought about getting one of those. But I don't think I can justify the price tag.

For that there's this one (https://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Technology-NA16029-Multimedia-Controller/dp/B003VWU2WA/ref=pd_bxgy_147_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B003VWU2WA&pd_rd_r=6HHMRBZCJZHZM3K0PB9C&pd_rd_w=z23OW&pd_rd_wg=wZrEN&psc=1&refRID=6HHMRBZCJZHZM3K0PB9C) and a bluetooth one (https://www.amazon.com/Griffin-PowerMate-Multi-Media-Bluetooth-Connectivity/dp/B00IRDRL4K)
