Title: second project.. 40 percenter
Post by: kgolden on Mon, 26 February 2018, 13:58:53
I wasn't planning on building a 40 percent but things happen...

edit: just a note on a few of the keys, this is only a temporary set. There are a few keys that do not match what the key really is (IE win and alt keys)
Also thank you JDCarpe for the help!!

i feel the beauty of the 40 is the split space bar, so half of the bar can be cleverly utilized hacking the function layer...however i am interested to know how you navigate thru your function layers...it is a wonderful board...i dig it...looks good

Thank you. I'm still getting used to the layers. But I press the FN key to move up a layer. With this key cap set I cannot tell the second layer keys... I just try to memorize the keys I need. I actually go back and forth between this JD40 and my Phantom TKL. But I also have a GH60 that I'm building, just waiting on parts to arrive.

edit: see below, I had altered the key caps.. The FN key is there now.

nice...the function layers are crowded on the 40...i'm workn on a planck right now...waiting on parts for my first hhkb clone...the layout has grown on me since getting into the hobby but the materials and cost of the original board i don't feel are justified...i found a nice chiwi case that supports the hhkb layout and picked a key cap set...building boards is life...good luck with all of yours
