Title: dev/tty MT3 Custom Keycap Set
Post by: 1391406 on Thu, 08 March 2018, 10:08:34
Just a heads up for anyone who hasn't visited Massdrop in awhile. There's a drop (https://www.massdrop.com/buy/massdrop-x-matt3o-devtty-custom-keycap-set) for an MX compatible set that's based on the profile of IBM's Beamspring caps that's got about 15 days left. Looks great to me.

I've got that set and I really can't recommend it enough. You can really tell that Matt3o laboured over every aspect and the results are brilliant. I have some mixed feelings about MD as a supplier, but it sounds like this set wouldn't have been made without them.

Nice. I've tried this in person and is very nice. Nice for touch typists. I may have to get a set.

MT3 profile is great if you're interested in sphericals. I have my /dev/tty0 set on a keyboard I modded with Kailh+Novelkeys "thick click" box jade switches. Types like a dream.(https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20180308/9951a3781cb6934ed12e86ba9328028a.jpg)

I joined the drop, and I'm thinking about adding them to one of these:

This being the result:

I like the feel of these but the color scheme seems a bit lack luster to me. I would love to see a set based on some of the beamspring keyboards like the 5251 as an option.

I'd be okay with the 5251 color scheme, though I'm good with the MT3 color scheme because it reminds me of either Topre or the Model M, which are classics to me, although I've always wanted a vintage terminal style profile and these are perfect in that regard, in my opinion.

This is dye subbed PBT, so no light on dark combos.

Oh right. I suppose it would be a lot more expensive to match the quality of the old beamspring keys. I got my order in anyhow. I like the beige the best.

Reverse-dyesub had be a option in theory. Makes light  on dark possible ;)
