So in my college's library I found a keyboard connected to some computer that doesn't look like it's been turned on in years. It didn't have a logo, but it looked like it took after the Cherry MX11900. It had a trackpad, and that layout kind of like the MX11800. Oddly though, it had a card scanner, so it can't be an MX11900, period. It used Cherry MX browns, and looking between keycaps it appeared to be plate mounted, though I'm not sure.
I'm going to see if the school will give it to me for free or cheap, maybe if I provide a replacement. But what does that sound like to you folks?

G80-8113, maybe?

Yup, that black one is exactly it, even the different finish or whatever on the function keys.
So any interesting factoids about these? What's the current going rate?

So, whatcha think? Pick it up for free or <$10, review it, dissect it, clean it, sell it for $25+?

As far as I know, the G80-8113 is hardware programmable. If it's in decent condition, this could be a great keyboard.

Do a search on eBay for "Cherry MX8100" and you can see what they've been selling for lately. The ones with double-shot keys usually fetch a higher price.

Lots of ones on there for $100; doesn't look like they sell very quickly though. There's that one for $40... I could outwait that. If this one is in good shape and has double shots do you think I could get $60 out of it? Or is anything over $50 just the usual eBay overpricing?

Turns out it's still in use. The computer is a print station, that was turned off last night when I saw the keyboard. They need the POS board so students can swipe their ID cards to print.
Oh well. Maybe I'll go to Goodwill this weekend, see if they've got any Model Ms or AT101Ws stashed in the computer section.
