Title: Replacement (internal)cable for model f(XT)?
Post by: supamesican on Mon, 19 March 2018, 10:15:59
Yeah, cable on a model F I got is not in good shape. I know I can replace the controller and get usb out, but I want to keep it as close to original as I can even if its just some modern replica of the original cable since i may be using it on an actual pc XT if i'm lucky.

Couldnt find any on ebay, is there anywhere else I can grab one??

Soarer's convertors don't replace the controller, they connect to the controller (or cable, if you are dead set on getting an OEM replacement). You can open the keyboard and disconnect the cable from the controller, then wire up a Teensy and you'll kill two birds with one stone.

I dont really want to put in a new controller, just a new 5 pin din cable so I can plug it into a pc XT I got from Grandpa. I know the cable just unplugs when you open th board up since i've seen it. Now im just trying to figure out if I can get a new cable

Your best bet is finding an original cable from someone who has upgraded or is parting out a board.

I'm not aware of any place you can just go buy one.
