Title: Bimodal Sleep, Anyone tried this ??
Post by: tp4tissue on Wed, 28 March 2018, 12:15:50
So in the quest for m0ar Healthy..

Just read an article on bi-modal sleep.

In earlier days Pre-electric/gas indoor lighting,   people slept quite early, because there's really nothing to do..

What would happen is,

They would sleep shortly after sundown,

wake up for 2-4 hours during the early morning,

Do , reading/prayer/study

Then go back to sleep until sunrise..

There is no difference in the quantity of Total Hours Slept..

The practice is well documented and endemic during early history.

I think they also woke up in the middle of the night to create more help for the farm.

I often find myself waking up early in the morning and unable to fall back asleep for a while, does that count?

Not intentionally.

I like getting up really early though, when I have that rhythm. But I usually stay up too late to be able to do that, if only because I need to unwind after the day is over.

I got up at 3am today but that was from my first (and only) sleep.

So Here's what I'm thinking..

8pm to 12am,  sleep

12am to 2am,  light meal / read something,

2am to 6am,  sleep .

I go to bed around 7:30PM most days and wake up at 1:30AM. I don't go back to sleep though.

Well the downside to waking up Pre- Day Light is that _

This desynchronizes your circadian rhythm which slowly causes long term damage to vital organs all the while reducing your immune effectiveness raising all cancer probabilities.

With Bimodal,  the main waking hour is still punctuated by outside light. as the midnight wake moment is only for a short duration.

Light is a primary anchor for your system clock..

It's like if you pulled the timing crystal to the cpu.. It goes, wtf.. idk when to do threads.
