Is there a minimalistic way to mount the pro micro in a 3d printed case, without PCB?

some sort of "rails" to slip it in. hot glue is easier and cheaper tough

There's a 'rail' in dactyl manuform. I'm thinking of a similar way but with a smaller footprint.
Instead of mounting the pro micro on the longer side, maybe I can mount it on its shorter side and the pin headers?
Also maybe I can use a mix of right angle / straight male pin header. Or use 2 of the pin headers for mounting.

If, in your 3D printing, you can add a small ridge behind the Pro Micro, that should do it. You just need a firm surface behind for support when the cable is pushed in. For when the cable is pulled out, the case wall should work as support and prevent the Pro micro from moving. I have a similar setup in one of my keyboards but not a 3D printed case. To prevent the Pro Micro from shifting side to side, I just taped it down with Kapton tape. Works great.

Kapton tape seems to be 'cleaner' than duct tape or hot glue :P let me try that
