Pears are one of those fruits which are exquisite at just the right moment of ripeness, and terrible at all other times.

Peaches are like that, too.

I find peaches get mealy too easy, pears seem to have a better window of opportunity.

All uncooked pears are disgusting and taste like they are filled with sand.

Poached pears on the other hand, are absolutely delicious.

Never heard of these pears, thought this was a thread about a metal(?) band(?) that I now realise is called Bosk.

Anyway I have vague memories of disliking pears due to them being very sweet but it's probably been 15 years since I ate pear, raw or cooked.  You're not doing a great job of selling them :))

I guess I've not tried a bosc pear. I typical eat bartlett pears. Basically it is more difficult to tell when a bosc is ripe and so is usually reserved for baking.
