Checking for interest in an acrylic storage rack.
After a very crudely made wood version I thought acrylic would be much nicer.
- 9 Slots
- Maximum thickness for smallest insert: 55mm
- Maximum thickness for biggest insert: 75mm 70mm
- 15° 21° seating angle
- Supplied foam tape for seating edge
- Total length: 700mm
- Minimum keyboard size: 60% or 250mm

That angle looks too shallow imo. Maybe something like 25 would give more confidence :p
Anyway, I like the idea so I'll be following this.
-
Would be very interested! I agree w/ xondat making the angle around 25d.
-
I've adjusted the angle to 21 degrees, any more and the dimensions would have to change. Based on a 1:1 printout, 21 should be more thank enough, much better than 15.
-
I think I can make some especially designed for each keyboard, by 3d printing.

I'd be VERY interested in a wall-mounted option, with longer shelves with little "fingers" on the end to "display" the keys at a shallow angle... (I don't have much desk space)
But you just do you! I'm just spouting ideas ;)

I actually like the wood one quite a bit! Especially if it had some kind of non skid feet to prevent sliding around on a shelf.
-
+1 for a wooden wall-mounted rack. In the same boat as vewy_nice where I don't have much desk space but I could mount it to the side of my desk or the wall next to it if need be.
-
oh yes i would buy this
-
I actually would prefer Wood over acrylic.
-
How about laser cut plywood?
-
What is everybody's price expectation? Based on my first couple of laser cut quoted, 50GBP/70USD without postage. It's a lot more than I wanted, the acrylic accounts for 34GBP and the little brass cubes for mounting add an extra 9GBP. The price above is based on an MOQ of 20.
I've also requested CNC quotes and some plywood quotes.
What is your main concern with the acrylic version, I can assure the build will be solid. I was thinking black, frost, opaque acrylic. Feet to prevent sliding will be included.
-
I'll take 4 of them please :thumb:

interested in this :) personally have no preference between wood and acrylic tbh. so long as there is weight to it, its fine imo.

I think at MOQ 20, 50GBP if you're cutting in the UK is sort of expected :P could I ask what happens if you make dimensions smaller? i.e. so 50% instead of 60% I guess, would that recude cost and simultaneously still able to cater for most boards thats 60% and not sacrifice rigidity etc.?
Also, if there's enough interest, a 40% version for those of us with 40-60% XD (I will not go as far as asking 30% just for the gherkin lol)

In for one!

Any further interest in this? I'm running out of space on my shelf...
