Title: Woah, 1974
Post by: tp4tissue on Wed, 09 May 2018, 08:24:36
This scene caught me by surprise.

They just had James Bond slap helpless girls around back then on the big screen..

Was domestic violence more or less prevalent back then ?

Dang,  the Politically correct upbringing in Tp4 identifies that man as a card carrying wife-beater,

But then the mechanics of the situation he describes is not illogical.. Assuming all other forms of negotiation has been exhausted.

THEN AGAIN,,  if we look further, many dead husbands with arsenic in their veins..

So..  PERHAPS if we look at the Longest Game being played,  Straight violence should be kept off bounds.. We are fragile animals afterall.

How many people die in the average Bond movie?

Somehow slapping people around is horrifying but blowing them away is acceptable?

Well... the context makes the difference.

James bond slaps women in Domestic circumstances.

James bond kills enemy soldiers who are trying to kill him..

So by insinuating that because there are greater lvls of violence in the film,  that it ameliorates the images of domestic abuse..

THAT is pulling a TRUMP.. but then fohat.dig has always been most hypocritical hahahahahahaha

The full interview..

Hahahahaha THis guy..
I think he grows up believing one thing (macho chauvinistic) , reaches old age, realize some of those things are wrong, but he recognizes that it's both unnecessary and probably too late to change..

They always pull this off in the movies..

Doubt even a real James bond could do it AFK..

Not only was it common, it was accepted.

While it's no longer accepted, it's still common and all too often written off as boys will be boys.

I see the point you're getting at, though not a particularly great series of films to use as an example since the character regularly uses any means available to extract information from characters, regardless of setting, usually involving on the milder side punches and threatening to kill with a gun pointed at them. In any case, violence in Bond films (and most action films in general) is normalized, though the men in such scenarios are portrayed as being more hardened to such situations so it's practically anticipated.

Wonder if anyone here has tried slapping themselves on the cheek, hard. It's a pretty effective form of self-discipline, though you really have to put some force into it for a single slap to feel much. Perhaps the expectation and lack of surprise lessens some of the overall effect, though if you continue slapping hard you'll eventually have a stinging, throbbing face.

My dad used to spank me as a child but I never developed a spanking fetish. I wonder where he went wrong.

That's not quite how it works, you would need to associate spanking with arousal at a precise moment in your childhood development.
