Finally getting this going! As I fullfill TKC1800 and prepare to ship DSA Drifter (its incoming) I wanted to get >Terminal_ R2 moving forward. We've all waited too long for this classic.
No International Kit this time. The initial poll we ran showed that only 26/450+ respondents wanted one. Last time around it failed spectacularly. If someone wants to run a mini buy for an EU kit, get with me and Ill help make it happen.

Glad to see the colored 1.5u keys in the ergodox set! Looking forward to the GB. And side note, the M0LLY keyboard looks nice too. Any time frame for when that might get started?
Glad you like it! Im going to order the prototype soon. Ive lined up some interesting companies to do some neat plating the keyboard world has not seen. It wont be cheap; but its going to be absolutley top notch.

It would be great to know what one should get if they already have the R1 set.
That would really depend on individual needs. The AE kit is all new, thats a must have for R1 buyers. If youre into 40% boards or Plancks, the 40 kit is pretty attractive, too.

Also, if we're being more pragmatic towards kit cost during this round then might I suggest just changing the 2x 1.25u #! keys to 1.5u instead. The way I see it there is already 2x 1.25u -$ in the base kit so people can just use that for their 1.25u needs. Then again, I have no significant emotional attachment to #! and -$ because I don't know the first thing about coding, but I can appreciate those that would want both in the kit. Maybe a poll would be assistive in making that decision.

I'm not familiar with a common usage for the colon so maybe it was just supposed to be an emoticon?

I tend to favor uniformity, so either 2 CODE/SUPER keys in 1.5 and 1u would be optimal.

I think the AE blank mods in the base kit currently disturb the homogeneity of an all black base color bottom row. You could place those mods into the AE kit with whatever legend you decide to us.

They don't exist, I had Oblotzky confirm this with CK from GMK as I really want those keys to be a thing myself - they don't own the moulds for that, nor 1.25 convex, but I'd assume they may potentially be interested in making that happen if someone's willing to front the dosh for the first set. Christopher was on holiday at the time when they spoke to him about that though so we don't know the cost nor the actual feasibility in having them made.

That'd be fantastic, if you do maybe try and look into getting 1.25 (if you aren't already) made as well since that's also needed for most split space builds!

In the 40s kit, I think it might be worth swapping the profiles on the 1u tab and 1u esc. The default planck/Preonic layouts have tab on r2 and escape on r3.

The : as a command (whitespace separated from the next word) indicates this pipeline is parsed but not executed, up to end-of-line or ; terminator (so, syntax must be okay including balanced parentheses etc or you'll get an error.) Can be useful to start shell prompts, like:
: \u@\h \p \$? ;
Effectively you can terminate the "comment command" at the semicolon; the next words are parsed and executed as your "normal" typed command.
So, why? Imagine a terminal session, cmds scrolled up the window; tripple-click any cmdline to select, just paste the whole thing, or multiples. The prompts are isolated and ignored, but not the commands.
As does ;: \u@\h \p \$? ;
; login : is similar but different ;-)
For similar copy+paste reasons, root's default PS2="> " is an early Unix mistake; just begging to overwrite some file someday, with an output redirection via accidental paste.
Try PS2=" " just to indent a bit, sans side-effects.

Not quite sure what you’re asking here - are you saying that you’d swap the base and legend colors for both the Esc key (AE base, N9 legend) and >_ (N9 base, AE legend) keys, or just swap the base and legend colors for the >_ key?

Not quite sure what you’re asking here - are you saying that you’d swap the base and legend colors for both the Esc key (AE base, N9 legend) and >_ (N9 base, AE legend) keys, or just swap the base and legend colors for the >_ key?
From my understanding, it's just removing the green >_ key from AE kit and adding it to base. At least that's what I originally wanted/suggested.

The base kit includes (1) 1.75u shift key for 96 and 1800 layouts.

It was too late in the game for serious changes. With proxies in place and kits already quoted and laid out, its a last minute decision. I realized the pipe key typically sits in R4 next to the shift key, and was incorrectly placed in R3. The decision was to move pipe to R4 next to the shift, and remove the <> key (as that sits in place of the pipe key next to shift) and add a blank in R3 instead of the #~ key that normally sits there as I figured a blank key makes more sense than a redundant one. At this point in the game its not practical to add or remove keys, this correction maintained the keycount while fixing two issues.
If you are unhappy, my apologies. Speak up during IC, thats the purpose of it. I put alot of effort into maximizing compatibility while keeping prices in line. To hear that a single key out this entire group buy "is a serious turn off" is a little harsh. With so many new keyboards coming out all the time with new layouts and key placement, along with the multitude of ISO configurations its not ever going to be possible to satisfy everyone's needs / wants in a single set.

In the 40s kit, I think it might be worth swapping the profiles on the 1u tab and 1u esc. The default planck/Preonic layouts have tab on r2 and escape on r3.+1 this
That aside, I’m interested but may not pick up a kit due to the sheer number of GMK sets being run right now
I mentioned this during the Neon Evangelism IC and it was either overlooked or ignored by the OP. Others chimed in saying literally only Jack uses R2 tab on ortho layouts...which is clearly false given there are at least 3 or 4 of us out there...

I'll give TheKeyCompany the benefit of the doubt and assume it made $$ or compatibility sense with the way it currently is. Staggered 40% and non-default layout ortholinear users are probably better off with the current kit.

the preview which was up on your website until recently was perfectly fine (for me). So if you make "last minute" changes how can i possibly speak up in the IC phase? I JUST saw it so i spoke up.
And while it may be harsh for a single key it's not imho, keycaps are a thing of aesthetics and a blank key on this beautiful set on a nice keyboard would ruin this for me. In the end i'm getting it anyway, I've waited month for this set to go to GB phase while refreshing your site like 50 times a day to see if there where any updates (for the first launch date...).

Firstly, wouldn‘t you mind if any key of the alphas would change to a blank one on a set you really like? It‘s just weird to have one blank there.
Secondly, I think UK iso has become such a standard, that it really flies under the radar if that is being changed. I myself didn‘t realize it until now. And it actually makes me reconsider buying this, also because of the fact that a whole region (or whatever you wanna call it) just gets „disregarded“. I started to accept that NORD sets simply aren‘t popular enough that I stopped buying those sets (as MOQs almost never are met an thus always are really expensive), but that‘s also because of the fact that a „proper“ UK iso to some extend always was part of almost any set and this way I can somewhat still do the short left shift.
Thirdly, is a blank key really that much cheaper than a none blank? This is a serious, genuine question as I have no I idea.
Anyways, I don‘t think there are enough people to care about iso, nevertheless I wanted to share my perspective. I also wish GLWGB.
