Title: New Laser Trackball w/Scroll Wheel CST2545W
Post by: skcheng on Tue, 20 April 2010, 10:05:52
I officially love my DT225 Trackball from CH Products.  And since my Geekhack guru aka Ripster recommended the CST2545W as his trackball of choice, I had no option but to purchase one.

Best deal I've found:

CST2545W (http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-L-Trac-Laser-Trackball-Scroll-Wheel-CST2545W-/400105427685?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item5d282452e5)

Don't forget to use Bing cashback which is currently 8% with Ebay.  So total cost is just under $100.   Not cheap, but at least it's NIB and substantially less than any of the other current sellers.

I'm confused??  I thought I purchased the "nicer" one??  So why is the one that bought more expensive??  And by quite a bit??

Oh well.....I should have read your post more thoroughly.....

Nevermind.  I see the difference now.  As Homer would say,  "DOH"

A  couple of mods if you ever want to work on soldering technique:

"Lego My Balls (http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:8810)"  - Add a couple of extra buttons

Doctor, My Balls Glow! (http://geekhack.org/showwiki.php?title=Island:9218) - Add a LED to trackball

You know I'm going to give it my best effort to do the mods.  Maybe I'll actually read your thread instead of just looking at the pictures  :-))

Okay, I've spent the last 2 days using this trackball and I must say that's it's really nice.   I left hand the trackball and I'm used to left clicking with my index finger and right clicking with my thumb.   The ball is super smooth and the scroll function up top is fast.   Money well spent here.  I'll have to pick up a couple more down the road.

I do think I like this unit better than the DT 225 if not for just the scroll.  But I could happily live with either.
