Title: Switches recommendation for an ergodox

I want to get an ergodox, but I can't decide on what kind of switch to use.

So far, I've decided that I want "gateron clear" for thumb and modifier keys (they feel really light and easy to press), but I can't make my mind on the rest.

I am a software developer, so my main activity will be coding.
I currently have a Realforce with Topre switches, but I can't say I am happy with Topre (they cause fatigue).

I've used a tester, but it didn't help as I wasn't able to find something that I really like:
- Blues/Greens: too clicky.
- Browns: not smooth enough.
- Reds: no feedback

Keyboards that I liked:
- mackbook pro
- lenovo p50
- razer with mecha-membrane

Which do u think is the right switch for me?

I would suggest Gateron Silent Brown.
- smoother than Cherry MX (although I have heard some batches of Cherry MX Brown are smoother than others)
- slightly more feedback than MX Brown because of stiffer component inside
- silenced, in the same way as Cherry MX Silent Red and Black

Consider the Zeal switches? They're super smooth compared to browns and are available in a number of spring weights.

I've got 67g Zealios on mine and love them, but I also like heavy weight switches.

I'd rather something around 45g, though I am a little bit afraid of accidental clicks.

Just realized that zealios are not rated for actuation. So a 62g could work for me. Anyone has experience with zealios on ergodox?

They feel almost exactly the same. Unlike O-rings and silencing clips the silencing does not impair key travel and it silences better.

I have Zealios on my ergodox, but mine are also at about a 60deg tent, so accidental clicks are never really an issue.

Click bar if you're not a heavy user..

If you type alot, clickbar is hella loud/annoying




Heavy users should go with MX Blue.. !!


The switch has very little to do with ergonomics..

It all comes down to TENTING of the split keyboard.

Once you're tented @ 55 Degrees,  73% of keyboard ergonomics issues are solved
