Title: HHKB changes in sound?
Post by: snarfarlarkus on Sun, 22 July 2018, 05:29:22
Hey everyone, so my HHKB w/ hyperspheres was lubed about a month ago and I remember it sounding amazing and quiet when it was freshly lubed and that lasted for like 2 weeks... Then it slowly became louder ever since. By louder I mean mainly the upstroke has a higher pitched sound and is louder than before. I loved how it sounded when it was freshly lubed and am just wondering if anyone else has experienced the same as me?

I know lubing shouldn't be done every month so...? Did I use too little lube or something? Thank you!

If it was more quiet prior.. that's probably the case of the lube running wet,

the viscosity slowed down the sliders return travel possibly,

If that's what you're after,  a higher viscosity silicone lube may be attempted..

But test it on a few keys first..

I thought Tribosys 3204 was already a pretty viscous lube? Anything thicker would almost be too thick?
