Title: Quick question on Cherry switches
Post by: Austinl08 on Mon, 30 July 2018, 19:45:39
If i have some Cherry reds that i want to swap to blues, can i just open the switches and swap the internals or do i need to replace the entire bottom of housing as well? i swapped the internals of 2 loose switches and it seemed to work fine. just wanted to see if someone has done this with success or not and to make sure im not missing something else different on the inside besides the core slider and spring tensions.

Thanks in adavance.

Yes you just swap the stems and springs.

Actually, Reds and Blues are supposed to have the same type of spring, so all you would need to swap are the stems.

Assuming you can get the switch tops off it will work - most non DIY boards have plates with no cutouts so you can't swap them without desoldering the whole switch.
