Post by: tp4tissue on Fri, 03 August 2018, 19:13:40
Update 3::

Back on Gigabit....

Sadness reduced....

Health Recovering....

/Resuming Tp4 services..

Honestly, 60mbit.18mbit wasn't that bad..  Twitch 1080p60 still worked..

Couldn't use torrents, guess that was the only major downside. now very behind..

So.... gigabit is $79.99

500.500 is $74.99

300.300 is $59.99

100.100 is $39.99

The reason Tp is contemplating this is,, Realistically, Verizon throttles the upload speedy anyway, and you only get around 100-200mbps for torrent Seeding...

For Download speed,, Gigabit isn't a huge difference over 300mbps..

Thoughts ??

Depends on how much your downloading. If your constantly torrenting then you'd probably want to stay. If they're throttling the upload then I would drop to 100 or 300.

Get the cheaper package and then get a seedbox.

Go with whatever gets you the results you want at the cheapest price.

I'm still rather amused that my ISP has two speeds available for internet, symmetrical gigabit for $60 and 10 gigabit for $400.

Would recommend dial up. You know it's working because you can hear it.

Vtel in Vermont, when they got a large Federal grant they upgraded their entire network to fiber instead of pocketing it for executive bonuses like Verizon.

I guess I got lucky since I only pay $45/month for gigabit and no contract. I just have to put up with a flurry of letters and phone calls from my ISP trying to up sell me their special streaming service.
