Title: Need 60% case advice
Post by: Geroximo on Sun, 05 August 2018, 15:09:59
Hi,

I need advice on a case for my NerD60 67g Zealios build.

What I'm looking for:
A case that will dampen the sound of the overall board and has a bit of angle.

What I've tryed so far:
60% Acrylic low profile case - Perfect when used flat, but as soon as you angle it, the sound becomes hollow and like cheap plastic.
iQunix Lambo aluminum case - Nice angle but bottom-out noise is loud and sharp and crisp, which is exactly the opposite of what I'm trying to achieve.
Noname angled Acrylic case - Sounds hollow and high pitched.

Can you suggest me a 60% case that will make the board more silent? I want a silent, cushiony, deep thock on bottom-out, not a loud and hollow ping.
Maybe a wooden case?
After 3 different cases, I don't want to do any more experiments. Can you help me?

Cheers

I put a sheet of rubber under the PCB in my Lambo case. The sound changed a lot - lower pitch, mellow, and quieter. You might try that before buying another case.

Try sticking some foam inside and put o-rings under the caps, that can help as well.

I agree with Tactile and Leslieann. I put some strips of sorbothane acoustic dampening rubber in the bottom of my Lambo and it helped to soften the bottom out noise.
