Post by: JaccoW on Mon, 26 April 2010, 02:11:32
Spectravideo MSX SVI 728 (http://tweakers.net/aanbod/advertentie/231700/spectravideo-msx-svi-728.html).

What is it? A complete computer? Anyway, it looks like it is in good condition.

Yes it's one of the avalanche of home computers that hit us in the 80's :)

MSX was an attempt to "standardise" computers in the 80s (like the PC architecture is now the standard).  Anyone could make an MSX compatible computer, hence loads of MSX.

I always wanted an MSX computer because you could get an interface that linked them to a databack for a Canon T90 camera. I eventually got one of the databacks, but never did find an MSX. Of course it's* totally redundant now compared to what digital SLRs can do.

(* the databack)

I see various types of MSX computers quite often at auction sites. Some of them have quite good-looking keyboards.
I like the blue/grey colour scheme on SpectraVideo's keyboard, but is it any good to type on?
