[EDIT: Sorry, the price I typed in my Subject line was a few dollars off... I've fixed it.]
Lexmark M13 Mechanical Keyboard - E2 (https://www.ebay.com/itm/Lexmark-M13-Mechanical-Keyboard-E2/192648267343)

Lexmark made a few variants of their own branded M13's, but they're seldom seen—and I've never seen this particular one. It's not on Wikipedia's Model M list (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IBM_Model_M), or Deskthority's either (https://deskthority.net/wiki/IBM_Enhanced_Keyboard). So as far as I know, this is the only known example of this p/n... Tantalizing when that still happens, isn't it?
I'd buy it myself, but I'm not big on Track Points. So I'm turning it over to you, the Track Point-loving keeb community. :?)
-
Okay, it is on WP's list now, because I added it. (What can I say—I live in the suburbs.)
-
Neat. I can't say I've seen a Lexmark branded trackpoint.

Shipping is $42 to me in Tennessee :(

Really! And all this time I've assumed this stuff was flat-rate. Here's what I see here in the Northwest:
[attach=1]
So $42 is the cheapest option for you? Does it show some that are more, too?
Anyway, I've modded my first post appropriately... Thanks for letting me know!

US $9.71 United States
Economy Shipping (USPS Parcel Select Ground®)
in the SF Bay area

My cheapest option is $26.50
-
Ah, the seller's in Oregon, so that explains why I see such cheap rates. (We fetch our US mail just over the border in WA.)
It's too bad more sellers don't know about USPS's flat-rate Priority Mail "Game Board" boxes:
They're just the right size for a well-bubble-wrapped vintage keeb, and can be sent anywhere in the US for around $18. (The boxes themselves are free, and most POs in bigger towns have them.) I've occasionally pointed this out to sellers who were showing shipping rates that were as much or more than their actual merchandise.
-
Too bad the shipping is showing so high, otherwise this is an awesome unit! I have the IBM version of it and it's lovely. And an oddity about it is that if you connect just one of the ps2 connectors to a belkin ps2-usb, it converts both signals. ;)
-
I can't believe no one's bought this yet. Apparently the seller selected only distance-based shipping options—which was unfortunate, considering they're off in the least-populated corner of the U.S.
Must... resist... urge... to... buy... one-of-a-kind p/n... :?P
-
Look, if anyone really wants this, I'd be glad to order it for you here in WA and re-ship it to you in a $17 flat-rate Priority Mail box. That'd bring total shipping to around $25, which still seems like a good deal for a rare board. Feel free to PM me.
-
Why do you do this, Ander?! Here I had forgotten all about this keyboard and you make me want it again. Darn you

If this were $10 shipping I'd probably have bit on this. $42 shipping here also. Man, do I really need another Model M... :-\

The rabbit hole is deep...We have the Standard 101 Lexmark, this trackpoint Lexmark, a trackpoint with split spacebar, a trackball Lexmark, Lexmark SSK, and Lexmark M15...am I missing any others?

Buh-ha-ha!! Here's an appropriate soundfile you can loop whilst wrestling with the dilemma.
-
That's not an M2, it's an M13. Correct the title?
-
Wait! They made a model M with a ease-erase key?!? Where can I find this baby! I've been searching for this ever since I tried this feature on an nmb board I have.
-
And I forgot about those notebook keyboards. I can't recall exactly now, but I think they were actually clicky?

The same happened to me. I pm'd the seller if I can get a break on the shipping cost.

Right you are! Fixed. M2's are crap, aren't they?
-
Holy #$#%$ that's expensive! Are they all that much, or just that example because of the pristine condition?

No #%$ing way although I've never actually seen one sold at auction and the only other I've seen another forum member has that came from a thrift shop so I have no idea how they came up with such a ridiculous number. I would pay up for one since it is one I do look out for but it is priced way too high. Actually this one has been for sale for a long time and I think the price was lowered :))
-
That's good to hear because I'd really like to have one of these someday--although I'll have to look at how my thumbs use the spacebar as I definitely don't want to mess them up or I'll be erasing half of what I type. :))

Actually with these Erase-Eaze boards you can configure the spacebar functionality.

Interesting, but is that just for the original nmb ones or the lexmark/ibm one as well?

I assume it functions the same. Erase-Eaze was licensed to companies like NMB, Compaq, and IBM/Lexmark. Here are the instructions for the IBM M15 which of course uses Erase-Eaze.

Very cool! I'll have to check out my erase-ease nmb board when I get a chance. And I guess I'll be looking out for the elusive buckling spring erase-ease now, lol.

Find one (if you are really lucky) or just find a IBM Wheelwriter keyboard module for cheap and convert it to USB with an Xwhatsit.
-
Interesting. I picked up an IBM wheelwriter a while back I think...

haha, who we kidding? I'm just glad he got it since I didn't need yet another one of these. :D

:-\ Someone was bound to break eventually.

LOL. Snagged for JP!

;D It's been a while since I've owned a Track Point. I bought an M13 on eBay last year but the seller just threw it in a box with no packing inside and the case ended up being cracked. It was a shame as it was damn fine typing board that I had to return.
-
So then this was destiny. :) Enjoy it!

Isn't that annoying? For what it's worth, I always include a note to sellers: "When you pack this, please sure to bubble-wrap it securely so it can't move around in transit. These old keyboards look sturdy, but the parts inside are fragile."
This seller has only 2 negative ratings out of nearly 500 sales, though, so odds are they're conscientious packers.
So then this was destiny. :) ...
Woo – Keyboard Destiny!! Exclusively on Netflix™.

That's a very good idea Ander. :D
Runs to tv to find keyboard destiny on netflix...

See how rumours get started?
-
Did anyone see that latest episode last night? :thumb:
-
I missed it as I'm just catching up on season 1. Such a great show! :thumb:
-
In fact, sometimes rumours are so convincing, they result in actual shows being produced.

Boo! I wanted to see someone post here how they looked high and low and couldn't find it and wanted us to tell them how to find it. :))
If anyone could do a movie, it has to be Chyros--it would have to be like a documentary/reality/first-person perspective though. Or could be something really oddball like the Bones Brigade Search for Animal Chin.
-
LOL—as I routinely do here, I just checked this item's page to see if the auction had ended. And of course it said:
You bought this item.
What? I bought a Lexmark M13...? Oh, yeah, duh.
By the time I'm actually senile, I should be very good at it, having had all this practice.
-
Haha, so many keyboards, so little time! :D
-
An unusual keyboard arrived at my doorstep today. Surprisingly the trackpoint works as do both mouse buttons. The left mouse button has no tactility left but amazingly still registers fine. Another odd feature I discovered is all M13's come with single piece keys.

Sounds about like the IBM one I have. :thumb: I didn't even remember the tactility of the mouse buttons until you mentioned it as they are like a sad old mouse with rubber dome switches versus microswitches. I think mine also has 1 piece caps.

Glad it got there OK. Thanks for the photo—looks nice!
