Title: Help with Montereys
Post by: Leslieann on Tue, 11 September 2018, 18:09:02
I found a good deal on a board with Monterey blues, however, despite being such a popular switch, documentation is terrible, so I need some help.

Is there an trick to opening them while installed and how do you re-assemble them while loose, or is it even possible? I love the feel, but wow what a complicated pain in the neck.

I have always kind of avoided opening them up.

Do your switches feel bad or are they dirty? My Monterey Blues were in brand new condition so I won't even attempt it.

The board can best be described as a basket case with a matching price.
I knew about the damage and expected a few dirty switches, but not this, probably 80% of the switches on it are not right. Despite not being yellowed, this board appears to have lived one heck of a hard life.

Ah reminds me of a Northgate Omnikey with white Alps that I overpaid for...
